Does anybody talk about the possibility of addiction to pain killers? I've been on them for a very long time now. I have to be to function. I work 20 hour shifts without any breaks (yes I'm telling the truth and it isn't illegal) 3 times a week. I've done this work for 30 years. There's no way I could go out there without something to dull the pain. It's a very physical job. Is anyone else concerned about addiction to a pain medicine and if so what? Is there any way around this, any non-addictive pain killers out there? Please answer.

i know exactly how you feel. i've been on pain meds for over a year now and it has been a life safer. stopped diarrhea and dulled pain enough so i could go to work and function. without it, i'd be in bed all day. i just recently had an ileostomy and am trying to wean off of them and let me tell you it is *** . my doc said just to grin and bear it. i'm having cold sweats, anxiety, headaches, body aches, diarrhea, the works. i'm hoping this won't last long..i'm not functional. i wish there was a better way to resolve chronic pain. have you had any experience coming off the meds/withdrawal?
